Luxury was never just about how a car looks.
Founded in 2010 by BYD and Mercedes-Benz's predecessor Daimler, DENZA combined expertise in electrification with a vision for premium automotive engineering. That foundation evolved into a dedicated luxury new-energy brand within BYD Group.
Today, its all-electric D9 MPV focuses on space and comfort, while the Z9 GT introduces a different expression of performance-led electric sophistication.

BYD and Daimler established DENZA as a joint venture focused on premium new-energy mobility.
First electric vehicle
DENZA introduced its first production electric vehicle in China, following its early concept programme.

DENZA revealed a refreshed brand identity and introduced the D9, which became a cornerstone of its modern portfolio.
Fully part of BYD
DENZA became a wholly owned premium brand of BYD, continuing its emphasis on intelligent electric mobility.
DENZA enters Malaysia
The brand officially debuted in Malaysia on 20 February, introducing the fully electric D9 Advanced and Premium.
The Z9 GT joins the story
The Malaysian Z9 GT specification and price list dated July 2026 adds an 850 kW tri-motor grand tourer to this showcase.
